Privacy Policy

CaptionRoll is a browser-based tool. We built it to be as private as possible — we don't require an account, and we don't sell your data. This page explains what information we collect, what we don't collect, and how your data is handled.

1. What we collect

  • • Watch history and video progress stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This data never leaves your device.
  • • Playback preferences such as speed, display mode, and auto-scroll settings, stored locally.
  • • Anonymous usage analytics, including page views and feature interactions, if analytics are enabled.

2. What we do not collect

  • • We do not collect your name, email address, or personal profile information.
  • • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • • We do not track your activity across other websites.

3. YouTube and third-party content

CaptionRoll embeds YouTube videos using the YouTube IFrame Player API. When videos are played, YouTube and Google may collect data according to their own privacy policies and cookie practices.

4. Cookies

CaptionRoll does not set tracking cookies. However, embedded YouTube content may use cookies controlled by Google. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

5. Advertising

CaptionRoll may display advertisements to support the service. Ad providers may use cookies or device identifiers to show relevant ads. We do not share your watch history with advertisers.

6. Data retention and deletion

Data stored locally on your device can be removed at any time by clearing your browser storage or site data. We do not maintain copies of this information on our servers.

7. Children

CaptionRoll is a general-purpose learning tool and is not directed toward children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as CaptionRoll evolves. Any updates will be reflected by the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.

If you are located in Indonesia, this policy is intended to comply with Undang-Undang Nomor 27 Tahun 2022 tentang Pelindungan Data Pribadi (UU PDP). You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data that we hold.
